Malaysian food is part of the culture of the country. Half of the China tourists who travelled to Malaysia before the pandemic were for durian. Durian is a very subjective matter whether you love it or hate it. Malaysian celebrate the durian festive twice a year, that is mid and end of the year. Recently, Malaysia durian trading company, DKing invited us to their grand launching of the Malaysia International Durian & Cultural Festival 2022 (MIDCF) at Pavilion Bukit Jalil.
YB En Iskandar Mirza Mohd Yusof, Senior Director from Domestic & Event of Tourism Malaysia officiated the 2-day event, 16-17 July 2022. The launch was not only hosted to showcase durian products but also as a monumental stepping stone in their plan to propose an official day for durian in Malaysia called Durian Day. Malaysia is famed for its Musang King durian around the world. Thus, with other countries having their special days of celebrating their food, this calls for Malaysia to have its special day in the calendar for Malaysian to honour our king of fruit, durian.
Malaysia International Durian & Cultural Festival 2022 also seen activities that represented Malaysia’s ever-growing culture including a cultural fashion show by Miss Malaysia Kebaya led by Nicole Fe Lynne and a emotionally nuanced violin performance by violinist, Jessica Loo.
Looks and sounds like a nice event.
