Have you ever imagined travelling with your dog without having to worry when you left them in a pet hotel? The Slate, the whimsical, art-inspired resort on Phuket's secluded northwest shore, is rolling out the welcome mat for our four-legged friends this summer, with the announcement that guests will now be able to enjoy stylish five-star escapes with their dogs.
The resort’s new dog-friendly policy means that up to two pooches can experience the life of luxury in a One-Bedroom Pool Villa, Two-Bedroom Family Pool Villa or Two Bedroom Pool Villa – as long as they are accompanied by a well-behaved owner. During their stay, pampered pups will be able to unwind in their beautiful villa, sleep in their own comfortable dog bed, which will be provided by The Slate, and even cool off in their private pool!
Food and water bowls will be set up in the room, daily doggie treats will be provided at turndown, and The Slate will give every canine guest a signature badge for their leash – the ultimate fashion accessory for the discerning dog! A series of “Furry Services” will also be offered at an extra charge, including a nutritious and delicious gourmet menu, plus dog walking and sitting services for travellers seeking some human time. For complete peace of mind, veterinary services will be available on call.
To ensure the comfort of all other guests, The Slate has created some house rules for its canine clientele. All dogs must be free from fleas or ticks, their vaccinations must be up-to-date, and they must be kept on a leash when not in the villa. Poop bags will be provided to owners who must take care of their pets’ mess, and while The Slate loves all tail-waggers to be happy and playful, they must also be relatively quiet and under control.
Regrettably, pets are not permitted in the resort’s public areas such as swimming pools, restaurants, the Coqoon Spa and the fitness centre. But the soft sands and shallow seas of Nai Yang Beach are just moments away, providing the perfect place for dogs to run, splash and play fetch to their hearts’ content. After such a fun-filled day, every pooch will get a great night’s sleep in their pool villa, with plenty of doggie dreams.
Under The Slate Sanctuary package, guests who book a pool villa will receive a wealth of extra privileges, including daily afternoon tea and in-villa breakfast, a bottle of bubbly, the chef’s curated arrival treats, packing and unpacking services, complimentary minibar items, free laundry, roundtrip airport transfers, kids’ and family activities, a “Meet the Chef” experience, private Muay Thai or Pilates classes, a 10% discount at KRU Precision Wellness, a 120-minute Coqoon Rebirth Massage for two people, and 20% off other spa treatments. Guests who book a five-night stay will be treated to a three-course dinner at Black Ginger, and those staying for seven nights will receive a private in-villa barbecue! Rates start from just THB 13,000++ per night.
Under The Slate’s dog-friendly policy, up to two dogs are permitted per villa, with a maximum weight of 7.5kg each. A fee of THB 1,500 per dog per night is applicable. I think the rate is reasonable personally. I wish that Malaysia will soon have this kind of hotel around. For us, the pet dog is only part of our life but for them, we are their whole world.
