Two more days to CNY. Are you ready? When I was spring-cleaning my room, I found I had a lot of expired and nearly empty skincare and haircare bottles. Thus, I collected them, empty the containers, cleaned and dried them up. Honestly, it was a very troublesome work since cleaning them was not an easy task. I spent 2 days in total for cleaning and drying.
Well, if you had some empties for skincare and haircare, why not you guys also collected it and recycle them at L'OCCITANE? By doing so, you could be rewarded with their products in trial size. This is not sponsored post yeah :)
Thinking back on the cleaning work, I could tell you it was crazy. Make sure there is not any grease or leftover inside.
Showing you guys my empties for recycling. This is just a small part of others still drying under the sun.
As this was my first time recycling at L'OCCITANE, I had no idea how it was going to be. So, I jot down every empties included the brand, type and volume in my notebook in case they need to record them one by one.
But, then it was not like what I thought. The process was rather easy and simple. You just had to fill in the form with your personal details and that's.
I brought my empties in 2 bags and sent them to L'OCCITANE at Sunway Pyramid. The lady staff helped me to check one by one from the type of products to the volume stated. Oh yeah, she also randomly picked some, opened them and checked if clean and dry.
While I was at the store passing the recycling products at the counter, the Chinese girl passed the job to her colleague instead (shown in the above picture). When I came back for the second round, she again passed the job to her colleague who was busy entertaining a customer. I was curious at that moment if the sorting out empties job was only handled by certain staff. After a while, when I was about to leave and talked to the Malay girl at the counter, the Chinese girl just looked at me (not a friendly look) like I'm just coming in for free gifts! I did not feel being welcomed at all.
I really support the good initiative conducted by L'OCCITANE for a green environment and reducing waste while protecting our Mother Earth. It is also a great chance for L'OCCITANE to introduce your product to a new customer who is potentially buying your products. While I'm waiting for the Malay girl to key in my data, the Chinese girl just ignored me. She could actually come by introducing their star products and the ideology behind them. I might not buy their products at that time, but I WOULD REMEMBER THE SERVICE AND ATTITUDE when you served me. When I feel good, I will come back to purchase it.
As I successfully recycled 30 empties, I got a full set of the L'OCCITANE products in trial size. The almond shower oil was run out of stock thus I had to come back again to get it at another time. Hopefully, the service will be improved at that time.
But, I had a few items rejected by them included the lip balms. They need me to cut the tubes into half for the opening to thoroughly clean it.
These two also returned by them as they claimed L'OCCITANE never sell hair removal cream or lens washer in their outlet. Thus, they don't accept it.
Hair wax also not accepted.
I have this C brand of toner and serum but the volume of the packaging did not fulfil the requirement set by L'OCCITANE (based on L'Occitane full-size items as the standard measurement) for being in the category of a FULL-SIZE bottle. Again, I had to keep it for recycling at other places.
That's my sharing of the experience recycling program at L'OCCITANE. Tell me about yours too if you have any :) If you have not registered for Big Little Things account, you can register here prior to your visit to the outlet to save your time.
What a cool programs. Sorry to hear the sale lady wasn't nice to you.

I went there second time last 2 weeks ago, another Chinese girl serving me but with high tone and unfriendly attitude. I'm so disappointed with their service.
DeleteFor me it's a bit more marketing than ecological. After all, how much water will we use to clean such packaging. And when recycling products are washed once again.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed lots water wasted since they requested the bottles should be clean, clear and dry. But honestly some bottles are not easy to clean like the lip balm tube, regardless how many times I put the soap and water to clean it, it is still greasy!
Deletei think they collect it as survey purpose as well. To see what brands customer/non-customer used. Anyhow, it is good that we can also enjoy/try their sample which we would never think of to try before this. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcomed!
DeleteI hv same experience which normally the chinese promoter not really friendly when we came for recycling program. Their face like showing us come for free gift. It's really spoilt the image of locittance.
ReplyDeleteReally? That's too bad. I really wish L'OCCITANE takes serious act on it.
DeleteHi Emily, just read this while looking out for Loccitane recycling programme. Regards to their sales assistant service I believe you can always make a complaint in their ig. This shouldn't happen. This is international brand. Loccitane products are expensive so customers should be given a pleasant shopping experience. They have to be professional. Thanks Emily for sharing your experience.
ReplyDeleteHi Arellea, I wish they improve on their services after economy reopens now. I'm just telling what I feel as a consumer. Personally think their recycling programme is good which now I get to know and tried their products even though in sample size but then I do love their shower oil after trying it.
DeleteI had the same experience before MCO at pyramid branch too. This year, their recycling program is back and the staffs are all serving with a smiling face. You're right! We might not purchase on the spot but after trying out their almond oil shower gel , I love it and has been using it till today.
ReplyDeleteAfter sharing my experience, I noticed not only me have such kind of encounter.
