Wawasan Hill in Puchong is my second favourite hiking spot besides Gasing Hill. First, the location is convenient and accessible within half an hour from my house. Second, the hill is not hard to hike. Third, parking slot is a lot especially along the roadside and in front of the shop lot. If it was not my friend posted her photos of this hill featured the "blue lagoon", I would never get to know this hill.
In Google Map, Wawasan Puchong Hill is also known as Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve. I never thought of having such a hill in Puchong area since every time I passed by and what I have seen was just buildings and houses. From the LDP highway, turn left before Setiawalk Mall, go straight until the T-junction in front of the Wawasan Recreational Park. Next, turn right and go straight until you see Sri Cempaka Apartment.
The beginning of the trail was just an easy hike. The place was decorated with the Chinese red lanterns.
At the junction, there was a mother and her son sitting down to have their lunch. They even brought along the gas stove and a few packs of instant noodles.
After hiking up the first hill, there was an open ground with a T-junction that led to different trails. You could choose trail A, B or the waterfall trail which is behind the yellow signboard. But my choice would go to the waterfall trail as it was more exciting.
For our very first time, we followed the "veteran hikers" which they were in a group. We did not know them and thought it's better to follow the crowd since it was our virgin hike there.
We arrived at a small stream before the waterfall. From here, half an hour more to go.
After about an hour of hiking up and down the trail, finally, we reached the waterfall. It was quite unexpected that the waterfall was so packed with people during that time. I could say more than 80% were guys dipping and swimming in the waterfall pool.
The big rock separated the waterfall into a small pool.
The downstream of the waterfall with the stones placed in between seems like some naturally-formed pools. We left after staying there for less than half an hour as it was almost lunchtime and we need to hike about an hour to go out. After that hike, we got to know from a friend that if we continued to hike for 40 minutes from there, we could reach the beautiful "blue lagoon". Well, we have to plan again for that and need to come earlier with food perhaps.
There were a lot of big trees fallen down that blocking the trail. Some were grown with beautiful mushrooms.
Could anyone tell me what's that? Something like beans but the plant is crawling up on another tree for the sunlight. I'm just a curious babe that simply love and admire the nature :)

On another day, we decided to try the new trail. The entrance was marked with "B" signboard and we just entered it. This trail was much challenging than the one going to the waterfall. The trail is rocky and steep. Extra care needed especially after rain. We walked for a very long time and found out a branched trail (above) was closed for entry. Everyone was prohibited to go inside. I guessed perhaps that's another way leading to the blue lagoon?
It was more than 18 stations before we reached a rest area which they claimed was the hilltop. Halfway towards the place, we were astonished by the giant trees surrounding us. The tree at my left hand was so beautiful with the neat lines naturally formed at the tree skin. I wish it will stay there as long as it can.
This hilltop area was a great place for camping since it was a flat surface. One would not feel hot as shaded with the tall trees. It was surprising that this place also decorated with red lanterns although CNY already over. To sum up, trail A and B are linked, it was one end to another. If you enter through trail A, you will come out in trail B and vice versa.

Besides trail A, B and the waterfall, there was another one (track) leading to nowhere except the Puchong view. This was the easiest among all. We could not go to the front any more since it was blocked by the bushes.

Here another way to come down, without the red lanterns. But you could see the terrace houses beside you. Without the tree with shading you from the sun, it would be quite hot to walk down.
We saw a chameleon on the tree.
And also a bunch of fierce monkeys near the trail entrance.
There were food stalls selling laksa and coconut water at the trail entrance.
Do come early if you wanna hike this hill. Parking was quite full during our visits in front of the shop lots and the roadside.
p/s: Kedah Laksa as the landmark for the trail entrance
*Stay tune as I will update on Blue Lagoon after the next visit soon.

ReplyDeleteLong time ago, the A-B trail is allowed. I'm not sure what is the situation now. Perhaps you can always check with Jbt Perhutanan Negeri Selangor or the FB hikers group.
DeleteHi...im going to hiking at this place on 2nd week of october....this is the 3rd place that im going for hike....is it challenging?
ReplyDeleteApologize for the late reply. It is not so challenging for frequent hiker. But for first timer, A-B trail is quite challenging.
DeleteIs it challenging??
ReplyDeleteIf you go up until the flat surface on top there leading to various junction (A, B and waterfall) then it is counted as easy, half an hour hike only (red lantern > Puchong view/ ppl sitting there to cook noodles in picture).
