KL Bird Park

This was my second time to KL bird park. The first time was during my primary 6 school trip following the teacher and classmates. That's really many years I never pay a visit till I can't remember anything different or change. For those who interested to come in for a visit, the HOHO bus does stop at the bus station in front of the park.

Sprawling approximately 20.9 acres of verdant valley terrain, the park is divided into 4 zones; Zone 1 and 2 make up the free-flight zone; Zone 3 is the Hornbill Park and Zone 4 is where the birds are placed in separate cages and mini aviaries.

One of KL Bird Park's most extraordinary feature is that in Zone 1, 2 and 3, birds are let free in the aviary which closely resembles their natural habitat. With this free-flight concept, birds are able to breed naturally in this unique environment.

KL bird park is not that big and one could finish the visit in 2 hours time. We saw lots of birds here and there, at the ground, in the cage or on top of the tree. Bird droppings were seen on the floor.

Black geese are seen in pair. Do you notice the two are making a love shape there?

I seen this bird before but yet I no idea about their name.

Indian Blue Peacock

Eastern cattle egret are the most in population in the bird park. They are freeing around. Somehow they can suddenly just fly pass in front of you to give you a sudden shock. However, they did not attack human and seem scared when I tried to approach them.

At one corner, we have an opportunity to take photo together with the friendly parrot. However, this is not for free.

Green naped lories were seen interacting with visitors at the World of Parrots. 

This little red lory is funny! Could you imagine he turned down the nuts offered to him but looking at my friend who drinking Sprite? We offered him to taste a little at the handrail but he insisted for more!

There is a vendor machine selling fish & bird food at RM1 for a pack.

Spotted this black bird sitting silently on the handrail on my way out. He looked calm and thinking deeply on something. 

The tour was a bit rush for me as I could not stay long to observe and find some interesting thing to snap or discover.  But honestly, it is still a nice place for the kids to get to the nature and a place to learn as well. 

Here are some daily activities for your information:

Bird photography : 9.30 - 5.30 pm (zone 4 -photo booth)

Lory feeding : 10 - 5 pm (zone 4 -World of Parrots)

Ostrich feeding :  10 - 5 pm (zone 4 -Flightless birds)

Free flying bird feeding : 10.30 am (zone 1 - next to Brahminy land)

Hornbill feeding : 11.30 am (zone 3 - amphitheatre)

Eagle feeding : 2.30 pm (zone 1 - Brahminy land)

Milky stork feeding : 4pm (zone 4 -waterfall aviary)

Operating hours: 9 - 8pm daily
