Chinese New Year is nearing. How is your preparation? Have you bought all the goodies, clothes, cookies, gifts for beloved and bus ticket to go back home town? I hope you guys doing fine. It will be pretty busy for Chinese or those celebrating starting next week :D

One of the most important things for Chinese New Year is the get-together moment with family and friends. Dining at cozy restaurant which serve great Chinese food is a bonus to make the reunion more meaningful.

I was recently being invited to taste the Chinese New Year dishes offerings in Genting Palace. This was my second time here and seem like nothing change in term of the restaurant interior.

Lucky Salmon Yee Sang RM138 nett (L)

I like salmon and having fresh salmon in Chinese dish such as Yee Sang / Chinese type of salad is awesome!

Chinese New Year is not complete without the omnipresent Yee Sang. Guests can enjoy this traditional favorite when they dine in at various restaurants in the resort from 16th January to 22nd February 2016.The restaurants are namely Genting Palace (2nd Floor, Genting Grand), Seasons (Lobby Floor, Genting Grand), Imperial Rama (Level 2, Maxims), Good Friends Restaurant (Level 2, Maxims), Ming Ren (Level 2, Maxims), Resort Seafood (Level 1, Resort Hotel), Hainan Kitchen (Level 2, First World Plaza), and Rajawali Coffee House (Lobby Floor, Awana).

To take away your Yee Sang, get it from one of the three kiosks selling it: Genting Palace, Good Friends Restaurant and Hainan Kitchen. There are many options available, from Salmon Yee Sang (RM138 nett for a large pack and RM82 for small) to Japanese Tuna Yee Sang (RM138 nett for large and RM82 for small), Hokkaido Scallop Yee Sang (RM198 nett for large and RM106 nett for small), and Abalone Yee Sang (RM488 nett for large and RM248 for small).

Double Boiled Chicken Soup with American Ginseng- RM68 nett per pax
This Chinese New Year, Genting Palace comes out with their special design Chinese New Year dishes for all gourmands. All available through the a la-carte order and ends till last day of Chinese New Year.

Double Boiled Chicken Soup with American Ginseng- RM68 nett per pax
The bowl looks like a pot :D The white colour thing at my spoon is fish maw which is great for ladies who want to look youthful as the chef said. The yellowish insoluble thing in the soup is egg blended with chicken.

Braised Pork Knuckle & Baby Abalone with Sea Moss and Sea Cucumber RM298 nett per order
Braised Pork Knuckle & Baby Abalone with Sea Moss and Sea Cucumber is the greatest among all according to my friend. The presentation was great! I was drooling looking at the baby abalone they served :P
Steamed & Baked Mountain Chicken with Chinese Herbs & Red Dates RM168 nett per nos
Steamed & Baked Mountain Chicken with Chinese Herbs & Red Dates is cooked with free-range chicken from Broga Hill. It is a healthy dish with so many herbs added but a little bit salty to my friend's palate.

Pan-fried River King Prawns “ Vietnam” Style RM188 nett per order
Pan-fried River King Prawns “ Vietnam” Style RM188 nett per order

Pan-fried River King Prawns “ Vietnam” Style is a "playful" dish. You have to pour the heated honey on top of the coagulated malt surrounded the prawns like a ball and wait for a while for its to melt. The shell of river king prawns already opened for the ease of the diners. I was glad that I no need to work out on it to open the shell. The gigantic prawns were tasty.

Stewed Preserved Meat with Arrowhead Fried Rice RM45 nett per order

Chilled Creamy Green Tea Cake RM26 nett per order
Dessert time! Anyone like green tea or matcha? This served chill creamy green tea cake gains lot of likes among us. We even re-order for second plate. With first bite, it has strong green tea flavour in mouth but it does not taste bitter and has a smooth texture.

A Chinese New Year staple that you wouldn't want to miss, Pineapple Tarts are sold at Resorts World Genting from 16th January to 22nd February 2016. They would make excellent gifts—or what about buying some for your own enjoyment?
Look for them at the various kiosks stationed at Genting Palace (Level 2, Genting Grand), Good Friends Restaurant (Level 2, Maxims), and Hainan Kitchen (Level 2, First World Plaza).
Two sizes are available: 20 pieces in an air tight container priced at RM35 nett and 12 pieces in a red lid container priced at RM25 nett.
