Last month, Ancasa Hotel & Spa Kuala Lumpur launched their
Ramadan Buffet together with a line-up of activities for the local
community and the hotel’s corporate supporters. The launch kicked off at 3pm with the traditional cooking of ‘Bubur Lambuk’ at the Hotel Porch by the Hotel’s Culinary and Management Team. Bubur Lambuk means Lambuk Porridge is a popular dish during fasting month in Malaysia. It is commonly prepared together at mosque and distributed to public as break fast food. It is made with rice and mixed with vegetables and spices.
The delicious and freshly prepared porridge was then packed and distributed to more than 700 people who were in the vicinity of Pudu Sentral and Chinatown.
According to the hotel’s General Manager, En. Shah Azam Khan, the live-cooking and distribution of Bubur Lambuk has been a 16-year old tradition for the hotel and he hopes to keep this tradition alive for many more years ahead.
The event continued till night with the hosting of break fast for 40 orphans from Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah, Ukay Heights. as part of their CSR programme. After the breaking of fast, the Senior Management of UDA Holdings presented each child with ‘duit raya’ and ‘baju raya’.
One of the children from Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah showing me his duit raya and baju raya from Ancasa hotel. He is a bit shy here.
The ‘Selera Desa’ Ramadan Buffet features more than 120 dishes including live-action stalls offering traditional favourites like Cucur Udang, Apam Balik, Nasi Kerabu and Satay. Chef Mariam’s specialties include Rendang Itik & Rendang Burung Puyuh served with Nasi Briyani. Not to be missed is the Ikan Bakar Station, where one will find a wide array of grilled seafood and meats served with various local dips and sauces. Do save some space for Chef Syukri’s extensive selection of cakes and Malay traditional delicacies.
Live Ghazal music performance also adds to the nostalgic atmosphere of breaking of fast at the ‘kampung’ with family and friends.
The Hotel’s Saffron Brasserie is the ideal venue for the breaking of fast where the Hotel’s Malay Chef, Makcik Mariam and its Pastry Chef, Syukri are showcasing their repertoire of fine Malay traditional dishes and cakes using only the freshest ingredients, cooked according to time-honored recipes. The ‘Selera Desa’ Ramadan Buffet is served daily from 22nd June to 16 July, 2015 from 6.30pm to 10.00pm.
