My stay @ Georgetown City Hotel Penang

This is a very short update for my stay in Georgetown City Hotel or formerly known as Berjaya Penang Hotel. The name is changed 2 years back for rebranding. This building already 20 years old.

 

Georgetown City Hotel strategically located in the commercial hub and capital of Penang. 

 

It is within 20 minutes walking distance to the local famous eatery- Pulau Tikus Market Hawker Centre. 

 

 

Very short welcoming speech by the hotel officer while enjoying the welcoming drink.

Super Single

We had hotel inspection before checked in the room.  3 types of rooms available, these are: Super Single, Superior and Junior Suite. For Super Single, the room rate is RM155 nett.

Superior

 On the other hand, the rate of superior room is RM185 nett.

The most spacious room type is Junior Suite, charged at RM215 nett. All rates inclusive of buffet breakfast, free WIFI (1 device only in room), welcome coffee & tea, newspaper in room and free shuttle to Gurney Paragon and Gurney Plaza.

 

The swimming pool is in baby size. I can't expect so much since the hotel is built 20 years ago. Nevertheless, I do have a great time here. Towel is provided but need to return after use.

 

On the very first night of our stay, we were entertained with Ghazal Parti performance. It is a music performance and Malay song themed with love. Ghazal came from traditional Arab music existed long time ago. In Arab, ghazal means "song and poems of love'. In Malay community, ghazal has a variety of functions such as entertainment, circumcision ceremony and wedding.

 

 That was my breakfast in Georgetown City Hotel one morning.
