Menara Taming Sari @ Melaka

We have KL tower and Petronas Twin Tower in Kuala Lumpur, whereas in Melaka we have Menara Taming Sari. Opened since 18 April 2008, this tower has become another unique attraction for Melaka. Menara Taming Sari is managed by Melaka Taming Sdn Bhd, subsidiary of Kumpulan Melaka Berhad which is wholly owned by Melaka State Government.

 

The tower is located in Jalan Merdeka, Bandar Hilir - one of the tourist spot in the country. The vision to build Menara Taming was inspired by the then Chief Minister of Melaka, Datuk Seri Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam. The 110 meter viewing tower was designed based on the Taming Sari keris, used by the legendary warrior Hang Tuah.

Menara Taming Sari is the first revolving "Gyro Tower" in Malaysia - a record that is endorsed by Malaysia Book of Records. Menara Taming Sari started construction in August 2006. The original site for the tower was on the bank of the Melaka River. But due to discovery of the ancient artefacts, the site was then moved to tennis court of Melaka Town Council.

 

The tower was uilt using Swiss technology and is the only tower in the country to have fully revolving structure. The air-conditioned viewing cabin is able to accommodate 66 people at any one time.

 

 The tower offers a spectacular and panaromic view of Melaka UNESCO World Heirtage Cityand a far with a host of interesting sights such as St Paul's Hill, Independence Memorial, The Ship, Melaka River, Straits of Melaka and Dataran Pahlawan.

 

It gives a 360 degree viewing of Melaka town.

 

The ride duration is 7 minutes and passenger capacity per ride is 66 passengers.

Other new attractions at the tower are Mini Rider 3D and Bumper Cars which are priced at RM15 (adult) and RM10 (child) for each ride.
