The Grand Opening of The Sky at One City

 Last Friday night, I was invited for the grand opening of The Sky at One City Mall. I have heard a lot about the mall especially its see through glass panel at the rooftop. I have always wanted to pay a visit and now my dream comes true ^^ Frankly speaking, I had no idea about the exact location of the mall, but luckily I managed to reach without getting lost via the google maps app installed in my phone. It is roughly 30 minutes distance (without traffic jam) from Cheras via Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP) passed through IOI mall Puchong and a RM1.60 toll.

 There were 1000 guests invited for the star studded gala night. Thus, you can see that the registration area was crowded.

 The sky is established on the 10th floor (rooftop) of the 16 level mall. It is the biggest rooftop food and beverage area in Malaysia. (I will share more next post)

 As I said the main attraction here is the see through glass panel at the rooftop! Light rain that night, thus little bit blur for the photo. This is certainly not for those who having a 'weak heart' or acrophobia!

All invited guests for the happening night were able to win prizes totaling RM16k from the lucky draw, as well as use Facebook posts to 'buy' themselves some exclusive merchandize from The Sky's Facebook Shop, in an innovative new social media concept.

 The first opening performance that night was power-packed dance by RJVN!

This was followed by an energetic display of beatboxing skills by local champ Shawn Lee, who showed off the percussive beats and dramatic sound effects that saw him rank in the Top Four of the Beatbox Battle World Championship 2012.

He is the only one Malay celebrity that host in Chinese show in Malaysia. I guess everyone knows him. I really love to watch his 'Step Forward' show. Waiting for the next season and his next adventure story that going to share with us.

Malaysian Idol Season One 1st Runner-Up Dina Nadzir then rocked the stage at The Sky, delivering powerful renditions of hit songs to the crowd. The multi-talented singer is a well-known recording artiste, as well as one of the top Malaysian radio presenters.

To close the evening, popular singer-songwriter Henley Hii took the stage and enchanted the audience with his performance. The most memorable part of the night came near the end when the audience, which included 30 members of Henley’s fan club, sang along to his amazing cover version of Beyond’s 海阔天空 (Under A Vast Sky). According to Henley, that song was especially dedicated to The Sky. A prolific recording artist, Henley is also an aspiring young actor, landing the lead role in the upcoming blockbuster film, Kepong Gangster 2.

The grand opening of The Sky was a memorable evening for all present, including the many celebrities, noted guests from the entertainment business industries and various well-wishers who graced the event. It firmly establishes The Sky as a new landmark dining experience and chill-out hub, and will hopefully be the first of many events, celebrations and memories to come.
