For our first night in Sabah, we stayed in Kudat Golf and Marina Resort, a 3 star hotel yet rated as one of the best hotel in Kudat district. (We can't expect too much for the hotel in countryside) Therefore, it is not surprised that Sabah Chief Minister also stayed at the same hotel that night for Kudat Festival 2014 event.

在沙巴的第一晚，我们入住Kudat Golf and Marina Resort,一间3星级酒店但是也是Kudat区域内其中一间最好的酒店。（我们不能在郊外地区要求太多）所以，那天沙巴首长也住在这里，为的是隔天的Kudat Festival 2014主持活动。

We checked in very late at night. So this photo was taken in the next morning after having our breakfast. It is clean and comfortable regardless the fact that it needs some refurbishment.

We had our breakfast at the hotel's cafe. For the food choices, it is not up to my expectation. There is flies flying here and there. Sadly to say they need to improve on it.
我们在酒店咖啡用餐。食物选择方面，没有达到我的要求。有许多苍蝇飞来飞去。很伤心的说他们需要在这方面有所改善才行。

But one thing delighted me is the fact that Kudat Golf and Marina Resort has breathtaking sea view in front of it.

After checked out, we headed over to Sidek Esplanade for Kudat Festival 2014. Coconut Festival that held annually is now being re-branded, replaced and renamed with Kudat Festival. For the 4 days event, an array of activities take place at the Esplanade, including a traditional cooking contest, local talent competition, batik-painting demonstration and a coconut-based handicraft-making contest.
酒店登出后，我们便坐车到Sidek Esplanade出席 Kudat Festival 2014。为了重新包装，Kudat Festival 是今年才使用的名称，之前都叫Coconut Festival。4天的活动，有一连串的精彩节目在那进行包括传统烹饪比赛，本地才艺比赛，巴蒂布彩绘示范以及以椰子手作艺术品比赛等等。

I'm always curious about the tribes' traditional wearing. It is considered weird and rude if I stare at them when I just want to have close look at their outfit. So the best way is to take their pictures and study at home. LOL...the picture shown above is Rungus traditional wear for a man and lady (ignore the slipper).

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the festival was value-added in filling the tourism programme to simultaneously develop the sector in the area. "The diverse communities and traditions in Kudat can lure tourists to visit the district and boost the tourism sector in the area.
"As such, facilities in terms of hotel accommodation and restaurant must be added or upgraded to meet the hike in tourist arrivals," he said when opening the 2014 Kudat Festival at the Sidek Esplanade Square on Saturday.

Kudat has always been known for its coconut groves. Coconut planted by Hakka Chinese back to year 1883, the history of coconut at Kudat is 131 years until today. Frankly speaking, I only know this when being told by local folks.
