Schedule of the Day 3(第三天路程): Koperasi Seri Aman Pulau Pinang Berhad @ Pulau Aman, Penang
For the next station, we were heading to Pulau Aman (Aman Island) which located at Penang.
Not many Malaysian know about this island as it is under reported in mainstream media as well as online sources until today. I knew it only few years back when I read about it from a blogger. So, this is one of the place I would like to pay a visit since then.
Pulau Aman is marked as the red dot in the map |
There is no other way to reach the island other than boat. To take the fast boat, one have to come to Pengkalan Cassia, Batu Kawan, a place very close to Penang second bridge. (it's not in the map yet)
The jetty name is called Pengkalan Jeti Batu Musang, different from the road name. LOL why make it different? That's the question in my mind...
That's not so much people even in the weekend. We came here on hot Saturday afternoon.
The girl from Gaya Magazine who I have no idea of her name...aiyakk sorry ya ^^ (you must invite me for a few more events in future for me to remember you better LOL)
Finally we reached Pulau Aman.
We were brought to a hall for short briefing about the island. I was quite surprised that there are only around 300 residents on this island, all are Malay. Most of them are fishermen. At the early day, there is Chinese inhabitant but all gone one by one, moving to the city for living.
From the flyer posted at the glass window, it clearly stated the rate for a room stay at Pulau Aman. RM100 for a room of 2 persons, equipped with air-conditioner and TV. Whereas for dorm, the rate for a night is RM240 which can cater 12 persons at a time, for additional bed, it is charged at RM10 per pax.
I heard Pulau Aman is a nice place for fishing. So if you like fishing at this island, make sure you bring along fishing rod here ^^
Within a stone's throw from the jetty, there is a floating seafood restaurant. To our surprise, it was full house that day. Therefore, we had to switch to another place to have our lunch. (it was little bit disappointed)
Others were walking far in front of me, perhaps they were very hungry after the game...LOL But I prefer to take a slow walk along the beach...cause I thought we supposed come here to relax and enjoy (I can only do this when person in charge not walking behind me hahaha...as he will only urge me to walk faster :P)
One interesting thing at this island is that there is no car! One can totally enjoy the fresh air over here during the stay!
There was cottage industry doing Kuih Kapit (Sweet flimsy crispy cookies) when we passed by. Chinese have Kuih Kapit too but we normally make it during Chinese New Year.
They are selling tapioca chips as well.
We proceeded to Warung Kak Timah for lunch.
There are a lot of Sukun (breadfruit) trees at Pulau Aman. Almost one Sukun tree planted at each household. Besides, Pulau Aman is known for having the oldest Sukun tree (since year 1891) in Malaysia. Sorry to say I miss it and hopefully you all manage to find it if you come here for holiday.
Okay, this was what I have for lunch. A big bowl of prawn noodles ^^ It was spicy for me as my tolerance level for spiciness is not high....so in the end, I'm the last one to finish the meal ><"
After the lunch, we were rushed to go for belacan (shrimp paste) factory.
It looks like a brick..edible brick
It can't be bought anywhere else. So if you like belacan, buy one the local homemade belacan.
Next, we were brought to the bay.
Hmm...I was only given a couple of minutes to enjoy the scenery and take a photo at this place before we left. I have to say it might be a nice place to take a prewedding photo here xo

Lots of chalets available for rental on this island.

And finally that's the full stop for my Pulau Aman trip. Well, that's certainly just a small part of interesting places in Pulau Aman I able to cover. I believe there is more fun if given enough time to explore the whole island. So I will wait for my next trip to pay a visit at Telaga Emas (Golden Well) which we did not go this time.
Before I was called again to board on the boat, I was able to capture this picture in time at the jetty ^^

The left one is the boat that carrying passengers, but I'm not too sure if the right one is fishing boat.
I thought we were heading back to the jetty but no.
We took the boat touring the island.
I really enjoy sitting in the boat but not during a strong wave. Kinda scary for me as I don't know how to swim. But freaking weird was that I was the only one who wore safety jacket in the boat...(so I have to assume that all of them are good swimmers)

The spindrift from the engine
Another boat
We saw some people fishing in the sea.
The words at the hill mean "Welcome to P. Aman". Pulau Aman is not a commercialized island, there is still a large piece of jungle remaining. The houses are all simple and not beautified like on other islands.
Then we reached a fish farm. Sorry I have no idea what they are looking at ><
This was not my first-time visit to a fish farm. But still excited to look around. Not forgetting to walk cautiously as I don't know how to swim LOL
Apart from edible fish, there is jellyfish as well. Moral of the story is don't simply jump into the water without knowing what inside...hahaha (yeah I'm saying you who still owe me lots picture)
Apart from the fish farm, another surprise is that we saw dolphin here ^^ OMG! everyone at the boat is thrilled and busy taking a picture of it...okay yah we rarely saw dolphins...but now we no need to travel to Philippine that far just to take a glimpse of the dolphin. They are not only one but a few of them.

So if you are first timer who want to visit Pulau Aman, take note with the boat schedule to plan your trip wisely.

One of the must do list in my mind before coming is to take a picture of the magnificent Penang second bridge (Jambatan Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah) which just newly opened! It is much longer than the first bridge, longest in Malaysia and Southeast Asia!

The last night of the trip, we stayed at Cititel Hotel. It is a cosy hotel for sure.
The TV, fridge, mirror....hmm connecting door to the next room. Luckily there is other participants occupy the next room if not it might sounds scary when you heard someone knocked at the door in the late night!(okay...I'm gone beyond imagination this time by watching too much of movie??? xo)
For the last night, everything is free and easy. I was clueless and followed a friend, Izzati to Gurney Plaza for dinner in the end. (long story....F asked me to come down at 7pm, Y asked me to meet him at lobby at 7.30pm, so I come down at 7.15pm, which I thought we were supposed to dine together....somehow by the time I went down to lobby, F already gone to Batu Feringgi (cool romantic seaside) with 2 girls...LOL..then Y who supposed meet me at 7.30pm not even come down yet...at the lobby I met Izzati, and her Penang friend came to fetch her to dine outside, (Y not here yet, but Izzati's friend car already reach) without thinking too much I followed her friend's car. (LOL this is so complicated...Y told me he did ask Izzati to dine together...so I thought follow Izzati should not be wrong...which eventually I will meet Y later...but no..).hahaha sorry for my blurriness...at 9.20pm M asked me for dinner....and I just felt so sorry cause I already took my dinner) A confusing night.
My second time being here. Lots of food stall selling all kinds of food that really makes one hard to choose...and so coincidentally I met 2 guys here. (who joined the trip) One of them was crave for pork crazily since the meals for these trips were all halal. And they told me they took bus all the way from the hotel. Well, they were very smart to know what bus to take to come here. Guess what they are not even local. Thumbs up to the Filipino and Singaporean!
Haha I have no idea what I ordered already...laksa?? It costed me RM4 for just a small bowl of it.
Coconut juice...hmm quite expensive here costed me RM4 whereas I can get at RM2/3 at KL....
Okay, that's the end of my story for day 3. See you again! Do me a favor reading from the start till the end and give me your feedback. Thank you!
Happy Wesak Day & Happy Holiday to all who celebrate today!
