Jobbie Collaborates with MAKNA in the ‘Pink Wobbly Breast Odyssey’ Fundraiser and Education Campaign for Breast Cancer

To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month (Pink October), the popular natural peanut butter brand JOBBIE has partnered with the Malaysian National Cancer Council (MAKNA) to launch a special CSR and educational campaign called the "Pink Wobbly Breast Odyssey."

The campaign was officially launched at Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (DSH2) before an audience of over 100 guests, including members of the public, VIPs, collaborators, media, and content creators. Its goal is to raise awareness about breast cancer and support MAKNA’s breast health initiatives. Among the notable attendees were MAKNA’s Deputy GM, Mr. Vemanna Appannah, and social media influencer Maryam You Narae, also known as Maryam Durian Kimchi.

At the campaign launch, JOBBIE introduced a limited edition of 5,000 specially-designed "Pink Wobbly Breast Odyssey" peanut butter jars. Each jar, adorned with a striking pink label and breast cancer awareness information, symbolizes the resilience and courage of individuals impacted by breast cancer. For each jar sold, RM1 will be donated to MAKNA to support its breast health initiatives, providing vital resources and care for those affected.

The campaign’s name, “Pink Wobbly Breast Odyssey,” reflects two essential elements of the cancer journey: “Wobbly” signifies the vulnerability faced by individuals battling breast cancer, while “Odyssey” represents the unique and courageous journey of each person. This campaign aligns with JOBBIE’s mission to spread joy and advocate for improved quality of life.

JOBBIE’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Victor Chin, shared, "Our partnership with MAKNA serves as a call for all Malaysians to actively engage in understanding and advocating for breast health. Early detection is life-saving, and through the 'Pink Wobbly Breast Odyssey,' we hope to inspire everyone to raise awareness, support survivors, and contribute to breast cancer research and care."

“At JOBBIE, we believe that, just as our peanut butter spreads joy, we can spread hope, cheer, and support for breast cancer fighters and survivors through this initiative,” said Mr. Victor Chin. "Our goal is to help Malaysians lead better, healthier lives, and to encourage a greater awareness of breast cancer, which affects not only patients but their families as well. Through this initiative, we are rallying the community and caregivers to support one another and prioritize breast health."

The launch event featured a vibrant lineup of health and wellness activities, promoting a holistic approach to breast health. Guests participated in a yoga session to underscore the importance of mental health for those affected by cancer, while the Wobbly Breast Hall of Fame exhibition showcased information about the campaign and artwork inspired by the Wobbly Breast Design.

Participants also enjoyed interactive stations, creating their own art pieces and receiving complimentary breast cancer screenings, generously sponsored by Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (DSH2).

Breast cancer remains the most common form of cancer among women in Malaysia, accounting for 32% of all cases in females. The risk of developing breast cancer increases with age, with higher rates among women over 50. Unfortunately, many cases are diagnosed at later stages, with nearly half detected at Stage 3 or Stage 4, where treatment options are fewer and survival rates lower. These figures underscore the vital need for early detection and regular screenings, particularly for women over 40, to improve survival outcomes and reduce mortality rates.

At the campaign’s launch event, a health expert and a cancer survivor shared valuable insights on managing and navigating cancer care. Dr. Haliza Kamarudin, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (DSH2), discussed women’s wellness, emphasizing the critical role of early screenings, such as mammograms and self-examinations, at different life stages.

"Throughout a woman’s life, various health risks and changes—like hormonal shifts, menopause, and notably, breast cancer—can significantly impact her experiences. As gynecologists, we focus on women’s overall health, hygiene, and wellness, offering guidance on managing breast cancer through treatments, hormonal therapies, and a comprehensive health management plan. Staying informed on breast health, monitoring bodily changes, and following a healthy lifestyle are crucial. Regular screenings and early detection are fundamental in preventing or managing breast cancer effectively," said Dr. Haliza.

Cancer survivor and advocate Choo Mei Sze also shared her journey, offering hope to those facing similar battles. “Going through cancer was an isolating experience filled with highs and lows, especially at a young age. Having my family’s support was vital. Staying strong, positive, and informed about treatments helped me navigate this journey. I’m honored to be part of this initiative, hoping my story inspires others in their own battles.”
